We have just finished Screen Free Week, and a lot of you told me that you actually chose to read a book before you went to bed! That is GREAT!! The focus of our reading challenge is non-fiction. I would like for you to choose one non-fiction book that you have read this year, and tell me all about it. Remember the new format that you will be graded on. Please remember to type your response on a Word Document before you post it. Remember, I will not post your response if it is does not have at least five 5th grade sentences. We LOVE Math!

We have just finished our unit on fractions, and now we are moving onto fractions, decimals, and percentages. We haven't really learned about how all three of these concepts are linked together, but we will. I want to know how you think they are all related? I would like for you to do some research. You can look it up on the internet or even just ask an adult. Sorry, Mrs. Ronning and myself don't count :)  I would like for you to respond with 5-8 sentences on how fractions, decimals, and percentages are the same or even different. I am not grading you on whether or not  you actually understand it or not, but more of you thinking between the two. Do your best and don't get frustrated. If you are having trouble with this, just tell me how fractions, decimals, and percentages are used in our daily lives. Always do your best work and remember that I will not post anything that has a lot of grammatical mistakes and does not have at least five 5th grade sentences. Good luck and have fun!

The Snow is Falling!

The first real snowfall of the year has finally come. I love the month of December! My dad and I would always go outside after Thanksgiving and set up all of our decorations. We had the whole outside of our house covered with lights, blow-up figures, plastic figures, and even an a HUGE hot air balloon that Santa was riding in. We would always have hot chocolate when we were working on everything. When we were all done, I would go inside and help my mom set up our Christmas tree. We would have new decorations every year. I would like for you to tell me all about your December. What are some of the things that you do? Remember to give detail and watch your spelling and punctuation. Like always, I would like for you to please have at least five sentences. Do your best work and spend some time on this. Read over your work because if it does not have five sentences or has a lot of grammatical mistakes, I will not post it. I can't wait to hear about what all of you like to do in December. Happy 1st day of snowfall!

We love to read!

I know a lot of you love to read. I give you some time every morning to choose a book and read quietly for twenty minutes. I am currently reading a book called Coraline by Neil Gaiman. You should tell me the main character and what the story is about. Tell me what the main problem of the story is as well. You must have five to eight sentences. Remember to do 5th grade work! That means you should check for spelling, grammar, and punctuation. This is your professional work, so make sure you do your best. Summer Fun!!!

I hope all of you are enjoying your summer so far! I know all of you would rather be back in 5th grade with Mrs. Ronning and myself though. I would like to hear about your summer. If you want to post on the blog to tell me of a fun activity that you did or an awesome trip that you went on, then please do it. I will try to update, respond, and post all of your comments as much as I can over the summer. So far, I have been playing a lot of basketball, planning my wedding, and teaching Willow all kinds of new tricks.
