Multiplication and Division
We have learned a few different ways to solve multiplication and division problems. Which methods do you feel most comfortable with and why? If you need to give an example in your writing to make sure I know which method you are talking about, then please do so. Please remember to use 5th grade sentences and check for spelling and punctuation mistakes. I will not post anything that is not 5th grade work.

In math class I love to learn different ways to solve problems and find answers in different ways. The easiest way for me to solve multiplication problems is to use the standard algorithm. I have been using the standard algorithm for a while and it is the most comfortable way to solve multiplication problems for me. In math class I also love to do division. The easiest way for me to solve division problems is to do the long division. I have been doing the long division problem solving technique for at least one year and it still is the best way for me to solve division. I still love to learn different ways to solve multiplication and division because maybe one of them will turn out to be easier one day.
ReplyDeleteMultiplication and division have been fun so far. I like in multiplication the standard algorithm. In division I like the long division.

Standard algorithm and long division are my strengths. The other methods seem a little too lengthy and a little too hard to understand. Those two are easiest for me.
ReplyDeleteThe easiest thing for me in multiplacation is standard algorythm. I'm very good with standard algorythm in math. I prefer long division but I am still learning it.
ReplyDeleteThe best method in multiplication is standard algorithm. An example of standard algorithm is 90x80=7200. Here are the steps: 1: Multiply the ones by the ones. For example, in this case you multiply 0x0=0. 2: Multiply the ones by the tens: 0x9=0. 3: Put a zero in the ones place. 4: Multiply the tens by ones: 9x0=0. 5: Multiply the tens by tens: 9x8=72. 6 Add the two numbers up: 7200+0=7200. That is an example of standard algorithm. The best method in multiplication is standard algorithm. An example of standard algorithm is 90x80=7200. Here are the steps: 1: Multiply the ones by the ones. The two ways that work best for me are double digit multiplication, and single digit multiplication. I now double digit multiplication very well because i have been doing it over my past three to two years. I now single digit multiplication because i learned it in second grade and then i mastered it by practicing it over a lot. And that is how i am very good at single digit multiplication, and double digit multiplication.
ReplyDeleteI feel most comfortable using algorithm because it is quick and easy.It is also fun to do.For an example if I were to do 28x29 first you would do 8x9 witch is 72 you put the 2 under the 9 and put the 7 above the 2.Next you do 9x2 witch is 18 then you add the 7 witch is 25 you put that 25 before the 2 that you put for 9x8.Then you put a 0 under the 2.Next you go over to the 2 and do 2x8 witch is 16 you put the 1 above the same 2 that you put the 7 above and put the 6 next to the 0.Then you do 2x2 witch is 4 plus the 1 from 2x8 witch is 5.you put the 5 next to the 6.then add 252 and 560 witch is 812.The answer is 812.
ReplyDeleteFor division the method I like is the one were you draw the side out and then you try to figure out the top.For multiplication I like the method when you put a 2 digit number on top of a 2 digit number.that is my favorite way to do multiplication and division.~Taylor Hill
ReplyDeleteI really feel comfortable with the basic long division and algorithim, but I like the method where you multiply by the hundreds then tens and finally ones. For division I like the method that we did in class for Unit 2 Session 14. These to me were very fun and easy.
ReplyDeleteI think The easiest way the solve a multiplication problem is standard multiplication. I'm most comfortable with that method because it was the first way I learned dubble diget multiplication. The easiest way to solve a division problem is divide, multiply, subtract ,bring down.
ReplyDeleteThe method that is most comfortable to me is probably standard algorithim
ReplyDelete, it is just plainly easy for me. Like 23 times 14 and 38 times 41. They make the most sense to me. Standard algorithim is used commonly and that is helpful.

Hi Mr. C....
ReplyDeleteI like the skeleton array because, you pick a multiplication problem then put the dimensions then put the box in the dimensions. Then you split it, then you multiply. Then you have the answer.
Mr.C.The method that I am comfortable with for multiplication is the skeleton array. For division I like to do long division.
ReplyDeleteThe method that I prefer with multiplication is standard algorithm. The method that I prefer for division is long division. These methods are easy for me.
ReplyDeleteHi MR.C I've all ready remember 8,9 symbols. - SAVANNA
ReplyDeleteI find standard algorithm easy because it is basically multiplication, but with more numbers. For division, you basically use division, multiplication and subtraction which I find to be easy.
ReplyDeleteI have been enjoying the new methods we have been learning in math. I really like the basic algorithm for multiplication, I'm getting really fast at it. In division, I like to do long division but sometimes I miss a step or two. I think I should try to find a better division method to help me. I look forward to learning to learning some new methods in math class.
ReplyDeleteI like the algorithm method because I learned it in the 3rd grade. We did more problems like this in the forth grade. That's why it comes easy. Jimmy
